Walking

If you care to join in with this healthy looking crowd, just check with your doctor and then come and join us. We will be delighted to welcome you. 95% Of our members are experiencing heart disease problems or recovering from cardiac treatment or surgery.

Our all weather walkers meet most Wednesday mornings at 10am with a turn out of a dozen to over thirty member. It is as much a social event as a walk with an incredibly happy friendship between all.

We have about thirty regular walks, but members constantly discover new walks which we are always keen to explore. An average walk is up to two hours, with shorter sections if you prefer them. When members usually drift to the nearest coffee shops.

As with most groups we gradually slide into smaller clusters as everyone chooses to walk at their own pace and this works out well.

From May to September we park in a handy spot which provides easy access to a picnic area, here we settle down with our own picnic lunch and take folding chairs blankets etc.

October to April we make use of the nearest restaurant or pub lunch (needless to say the men seem to find an extra spurt at this point).

Depending again on the time of year our walkers rang from anything between 18 and 90 odd years of age. This can include helpers, carers, and friends, all of whom join as members.

Please don’t be shy, just come along and give us a try, you don’t have to stay if it isn’t for you.
